Commission Process

I like to keep the commission process pretty simple.

Initial Contact

First contact me and tell me what you want. If you are feeling a little vague on what you want, don’t worry. I love working with clients and helping them come up with ideas! Let me know what size, medium (drawing, painting, etc.) and subject and I’ll give you a basic estimate. If that sounds good, you can send me some photos of the subject.

Please note: I do not currently require a deposit to start a commissioned art project!

Creation of The Art Project

I can begin to create the piece once I have all of the information. I will do my best to send you regular progress reports and photos. Please keep in mind that drawings can happen quickly and by the time you get an update, the drawing may be done. Feedback is welcome during this process. I would like to know if I’m capturing something or missing something so please tell me!

Approval of Final Art Project

I will ask for final approval once the project is done. This is typically over email however if this is a local commission, it is done in person.

Payment and Delivery

I accept cash, check or PayPal. Full payment is due upon final approval / delivery of the artwork. If I have to ship the piece to you, I will need full payment prior to releasing the shipment. If it is a local hand-delivery, please have full payment ready or completed when I bring you your artwork.

Shipping Fees

While I have a lot of local clients, I also have clients all over the country! Here are some guidelines I use for getting your artwork to you:

All fees and expenses related to shipping artwork are the responsibility of the client. I will provide the total cost for packaging, carrier fees (including insurance) to you. These fees are due along with the final payment prior to my releasing the shipment. I package my artwork carefully to ensure that it will arrive safely to you in a timely manner. If payment is prompt, I can usually ship finished artwork within 1 business day of completion!

Local hand-deliveries are complimentary depending on location.

General Commission Information

Unless otherwise stated, all artwork is unframed. I do not frame any of my commissioned artwork.

Sharing of Images of Commissioned Artwork I Create on This Website and My Facebook Page

The images I create may be used on my website, Facebook page or any other medium unless you specifically ask me not to. Many of the pieces that I create are meant as gifts and I am more than happy to hold off posting until you give the surprise to that special someone.

I will not publish any of your personal information unless you want me to. This would include tagging you in a Facebook post or providing a link to your information on this website.

Ownership of Art I Create

All images I create are protected by copyright. The artwork itself is yours so please display it proudly wherever you like. Please do not use my artwork to create t-shirts, other printed material or advertising without making arrangements with me first. I don’t mind if you share images of my artwork on social media (Facebook, twitter, etc.) but I do ask that you give me credit by mentioning “Marty Zulkoski”, “Art By Marty” as the creator or providing a link to my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/martyzart/ or this website: http://www.art-by-marty.com.

If you are concerned about sharing images of my artwork, please contact me and I’m sure we can work it out.

How I Handle Your Photos

By transmitting your photo(s) to me, you are giving me permission to create the agreed upon artwork from them. I will not use your photo(s) for anything other than the agreed upon artwork or sketches used in the creative process. I will not share your photo(s) on my website, Facebook page or any other medium without your prior consent.
